Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: 17 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how FakeTune ("FakeTune", "we", "us"), a product of Stardaze Ltd, collects, uses and shares information when you use faketune.com and the FakeTune mobile app (together, the "Service"). We wrote it to be read, not just filed away — if anything here is unclear, email us at hello@stardaze.app.

The short version: FakeTune analyzes audio you choose to submit (microphone, file, or link) to estimate whether it's AI-generated or human-made. We process that audio briefly to produce a result and then delete it — we don't build a library of your recordings. We do not sell your personal data to anyone, ever.

1. Who we are

FakeTune is operated by Stardaze Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom (stardaze.app), acting as the data controller under GDPR/UK GDPR. For any privacy question or request, contact hello@stardaze.app.

2. What we collect, and why

FakeTune has no user accounts, no sign-up and no login — there's no name, email or password tied to your use of the core detector. Here is exactly what we process:

2.1 Audio you submit for analysis

SourceWhat happens to it
Microphone recordingCaptured only after your browser's explicit microphone permission prompt. Sent to our server for analysis, then deleted immediately after processing.
Uploaded audio fileProcessed temporarily on our server, then deleted. A content hash (not the audio itself) may be cached briefly so re-analyzing the exact same file is instant.
Link (YouTube / SoundCloud / Bandcamp / direct URL)We fetch a short audio extract from the link you provide purely to analyze it, then delete the extract. The resulting analysis (title, score, signals) may be cached to speed up repeat lookups of the same link.

We use this audio for one purpose only: to run our detection model (dynamics, timbre, spectral and background-noise analysis) and, where enabled, acoustic fingerprint recognition to identify the track. We do not use submitted audio for advertising, and we do not build voice or listener profiles from it.

2.2 Track identification via third-party music databases

To identify the artist and title and to sanity-check our AI/human estimate, we may send:

These are independent third-party services with their own privacy practices; we send them only what's needed to answer "what is this track," not any information that identifies you personally.

2.3 Feedback you choose to give (👍 / 👎)

If you tap the thumbs up/down under a result, we store: the track title, our predicted label and score, your vote, which feature you used, and your IP address at the time — in a database (Supabase, hosted in the EU) used only to improve detection accuracy over time. This is optional; the detector works fully without it.

2.4 "Spin the Tune" game

Your game progress and last result are kept in your browser's local storage, on your own device — we don't tie them to you individually on our servers. Aggregate, anonymous daily stats (like "how many people played today") are kept so we can show the daily leaderboard-style numbers.

2.5 Standard technical / server data

Like virtually any website, our hosting and content-delivery infrastructure (currently Bunny CDN and our application server) may automatically log technical data such as IP address, browser/device type, and request timestamps, for security, abuse-prevention and operational troubleshooting. This is standard web server logging, not tracking for advertising.

3. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to third parties for their own marketing purposes — period. The limited sharing described in Section 2 (with ACRCloud, AudD, Last.fm, Deezer, Discogs, our hosting/CDN provider, and Supabase) exists only to run the Service itself, as a processor acting on our instructions.

4. Advertising and sponsored content

FakeTune may display sponsored content, including a small, clearly labeled ("AD") banner. Advertising may be served directly by us or delivered through third-party ad servers and ad networks. Where an ad server is used, it may collect technical data (such as IP address, device/browser type, approximate location and ad-interaction data) to serve, target and measure ads, subject to that ad server's own privacy policy — we recommend checking it if you want details on how a specific ad partner handles data. We do not share your submitted audio or analysis results with advertisers. Clicking an ad takes you to an external site with its own, separate privacy policy.

5. Cookies and local storage

We don't use tracking or advertising cookies. The Service uses your browser's local storage only to remember your last game result and basic preferences on your own device — this data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to submit feedback or play the game.

6. Data retention

7. Your rights (GDPR and beyond)

If you're in the European Economic Area, UK, or a jurisdiction with similar protections, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@stardaze.app. Because FakeTune doesn't have accounts, we'll do our best to locate relevant records (for example, feedback tied to an IP address) based on the details you provide.

Legal bases for processing (GDPR Art. 6)

8. International data transfers

Our feedback database (Supabase) is hosted in the EU. Some third-party services we integrate with (Last.fm, Deezer, Discogs, and acoustic-fingerprinting providers) may process data outside the EU/EEA as part of their own infrastructure. Where this happens, we rely on those providers' own compliance mechanisms (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross-border transfers.

9. Children's privacy

FakeTune is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at hello@stardaze.app and we'll remove it.

10. Security

Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS). Our feedback database uses row-level security so that only new entries can be written by the app — not read back — reducing the impact of any potential exposure. Submitted audio is processed in temporary storage and removed after use rather than being retained.

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Significant changes will be reflected here; continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
